Already the month of February has begun, and January is completely over. How was it? Did you make new years resolutions this year? Have you started working on them? I know I have and goodness it has already been crazy. For instance, I’m here writing on this blog again after over a year of not being present. Sometimes life gets us distracted. Life, this ever loving thing we work so hard to make everything we ever dreamed of. Days, weeks, and months go by without really making a progress towards your dreams and goals. You get stuck in the mundane routine of everyday, go to work, eat dinner, watch tv, scroll on TikTok, go to bed. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat. All the while continuously making lists of your next move or dreaming of a different life or hoping to make more money or travel more or blah blah blah. Well none of it is going to happen when you keep doing the same things over and over again.
It took me a year of changing my diet, learning how to live with the job I chose, and creating a better schedule to realize that I needed to kick my ass in gear. If I wanted to have the life I dreamed of I needed to start working for it, and so do you. So this year is my year, its our year, its YOUR year!
Last month was mine, not to share with anyone else. It was my chance to get my things in order, create systems, figure out my goals and get shit started. Now that I have had my time I am here to join you in a journey together. So where are you? Have you figured out your goals for the year? Have you decided what you are going to focus on this year? If you haven’t then I have some ideas for you.
Resolve to better your health.
There should always be a health goal on your resolutions list. Whether it be to lose 5lbs or hit the gym more there is always something better you can do for your health. Maybe you need to change up your diet or remember to drink more water. You should always be adding something even if its just something small onto your big yearly list of todos as far as your health goes. You can never worry about your health enough. Sometimes starting small is the best way to start at all. For some of us focusing on our health is super hard, which just means we need to focus on it even more. Being healthier can literally change your life. Not only can it change how you look, but it can change how you feel, how much anxiety you have, what you crave, literally everything can change. So why not, what do you have to lose. Put a health resolution on your list and see if you can be just a little healthier than you were last year.
Add a new job, a promotion, or a side hustle to make some extra cash to your resolutions list.
You can never go wrong adding career goals to your resolutions list. After all, work is how you make money, and if you could better your job and make more money wouldn’t you? Maybe you want to learn a new skill in your workplace or move up the chain. Maybe you want to find a new job or start your own business. Either way creating goals for your career is super important for your future. You cant level up in the workplace if you don’t have anything you are working towards. Plus having something to work towards makes the idea of getting up and getting to work every day a little easier and a little more fun. Take a second to look at your job, is this what you want to do for the rest of your life, or until retirement? and if not, figure out what is, and create a plan to make that happen. We all want certain things from our jobs, whether its to be able to make more money, or a better schedule or even a job that your thoroughly enjoy going to everyday. It is possible to make all of those things happen.
Relationships.
Most of us seem to forget to add some relationship goals to our list of goals to accomplish each year and it really shows. I personally have some things I really want to change as far as relationships go in my life. I want to spend more time with my family. Calling and checking in on my grandparents, aunts, and uncles ya know really do better at keeping in touch. You never know what people won’t be in your life in a year to come so I think it is very important to sit down and really think about those that are important to you and make time to keep up with them and spend time together. Not to mention that spending time with family and friends is a great way to relieve yourself from everyday stress. Have some fun, enough a good conversation, and fucking laugh a little in life ya know. We only have one life so spend some time with the people you love.
Personal.
Work on something you are struggling with mentally: Sometimes we forget that there are ways to help us with the stuff that goes on in our minds. Do you feel a little depressed? Has your anxiety been through the roof lately? Maybe your relationship is stressing you out. Well, let’s work on that. Why not think about something that has been hard for you lately and make it a goal to work on it. We all deal and struggle with so many things on a day-to-day basis and tend to forget that there are ways to help make some of those things easier. There are also so many things we can do to help with some of those things. You can find a good old-fashioned book for just about anything these days. Sometimes is also good to talk to someone, a friend or a therapist both are important. You would be surprised at how great you will feel if you spend some time working on yourself. Everyone has issues, none of us are perfect and recognizing our true problems can change our entire lives.
Allow yourself to dream.
Ahhh dreams. Remember being a small child and spending all of your free time dreaming up a super awesome life? I used to dream of having a pet orca whale and swimming with him everyday. As we get older some of us don’t think about them too often anymore and for some of us, it’s all we think about. Regardless somewhere out there we all have them. Allow yourself to dream again. If you aren’t working towards those dreams tho they are never going to become a reality. So sit your ass down, figure out what your dreams are and what goals you can accomplish to start in the direction of making those dreams come true. When you think of your dreams, go big, as big as you possibly can, and then write down some steps you can take to make one of those dreams come true and focus on that!
And for those of that already know you goals, and have taken the time to set them and begin implementing them I congratulate you. Starting is the first step. Taking one step towards a better you and a better future is just the beginning. So work hard, believe and know that you can do it, and go make changes. Go create the life you want to live. KILL IT.
On another note, happy February. It’s the month of love. So love yourself, love your friends, love your family, love your dog, love your significant other. Love it all. Give out a love you’ve never given before. This is our year, start now.
