My Complete Bucket List for an Unforgettable Summer

by jessicalynnschinkovec

It’s July halfway through summer, and I can’t stop thinking of all the things I haven’t done yet. When you live in a state that only gives you a few months of great weather you have to take advantage of it. Every season I seem to create a list in my head of all the things I want to do. Every time I forget about it and this year I decided to write it down. After writing it down I realize I have so much more I want to do and not very much time to do it. Doesn’t everyone have a summer bucket list? So here we are, I am currently laying out in the sun (trying to catch a tan) while I make a list of all the things I want to do and some of the things I have already done.

So, here is my complete summer bucket list….

Everything that has a strikethrough is stuff that I have already accomplished this summer. Also, I have included some of my photos from the things that I have done so far!

Some summer water activities…

Boating – If I could find a way to live on a boat I think I would. The closer I am to sunshine and water the better I am. Being on the water just gives me a crazy high. I am fortunate enough that my family owns a pontoon, so in the summer I get to spend a few weekends on the boat. I think everyone should try to have one boating day. You can rent one with family or find a friend that has a boat.

Spend a Day at a Lake – You don’t have to be boating or kayaking to enjoy a day by the water. I love visiting different lakes and seeing what they have to offer. Some lakes have awesome dining right on the water which is always enjoyable.

Kayaking – Another opportunity to be on the water, kayaking is so much fun. It’s great exercise while also quite relaxing. you don’t even realize that you’re doing any work. Many places rent kayaks which makes it much easier than boating.

Do a River Float – When I was biking the GAP trail along the river there were so many people just floating. It was so awesome looking, just grab a bunch of friends, some rafts, and some drinks and spend the day floating down the river. This one is definitely one I need to do before summer is over.

Go White Water Rafting – I know white water rafting isn’t on everyone’s bucket list for summer but it’s on my bucket list in life, I have never been and have always wanted to go.

Go Night Swimming – Night swimming is always fun. I did swim in the ocean at night when I was on vacation, but I am not counting it. It’s possible that I may have been drunk so…

Fun bucket list with friends…

Go to a Car Show – I just recently started spending some weekend afternoons at car shows which is really cool. I love finding events where I get to spend time outside in the summer, so go check out a good car or truck so!

Summer Cookout – I love a good cookout. Grilling good food, playing games with friends, and some fun summer drinks? Count me in. We had a cookout out for my and my brother’s birthdays this year it was a ball.

Try Some Fun Summer Drinks – I always love trying new drinks that go along with what season we are in. For me, summertime means margs, margs, and more margs! Currently, I am obsessed with a watermelon margarita that is so refreshing!

Sit by a Fire – Having a fire on a nice cool summer night is always fun and relaxing. Who doesn’t love a good fire? We have a lot of fires at my house during spring, summer, and fall.

Summer Concert – I haven’t been to a concert in years, which is why it’s on my summer bucket list. Summer concerts are always the best.

Have Brunch with Friends – Who doesn’t love a good brunch? Breakfast and mimosasas? Or Bloody marys for me but hell yeah count me in! If you ever get the chance check out Another Broken Egg Cafe it is delicious.

Go Mudding – I used to ride quads and razors all the time but in the past few years I just haven’t really done it and I don’t know why. This summer I have been itching to go out and ride in the mud so I threw it on the bucket list.

Finish the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour – Last summer I really got into the laurel highlands pour tour and I haven’t done much since, so I am determined to finish it. Or maybe at least get a few more places in. I did a post on the Pour Tour check it out here.

Enjoying the outdoors…

Go Biking – I recently biked a small part of the GAP trail with a friend and it was invigorating. I have always wanted to do it and now I want to do a longer trip!

Drive-in Movie – I haven’t been to a drive-in in years, so I am determined to get to one this summer. There aren’t too many left where I live, but I am determined to go to fill the bed of a truck with blankets and pillows, bring some snacks and drinks and sit in the bed watching a movie outside.

Go Hiking – Hiking is always one of my favorite things to do in the summer and fall. Going on a good hike is great for your body and your mind and you don’t know what you might come across. I usually try to hike in places where I may come across a waterfall or an abandoned building, but that’s just me.

Spend a Weekend Camping – Get a bunch of friends together and go camping, even if its just in the yard. I love camping and I can’t wait to get a weekend when some friends are available to go!

Ride a horse – I love a good long trail ride. We have horses at my house so on my summer list was a long trail ride with friends. Since most people don’t have horses I figured I would just put ride a horse as something you should do this summer. Trust me it’s a fun time!

Travel or explore a new place….

Go to the Beach – In June my mom and I did a Florida trip where we went from Treasure Island and St. Pete on the bayside of Florida all the way to Daytona for Daytona truck week and most of our time was spent on the beach it was perfect! Visiting the beach is always on my bucket list, if I could live on the beach I would. Hopefully one of these days I will at least live close to one.

Go to a National or State Park – Big parks are always fun, Ohio Pyle state park is one of my favorites in the area but I want to try to explore some more.

Visit somewhere you have never been – Whether it’s a new restaurant or traveling to a new city, try to do something 100% new to you.

Enjoy some time to yourself…

Read a Good Book – A great relaxing thing that I think everyone should do as often as they can is read. Reading is always so comforting if you can find a book to get lost in.

Have a Picnic – Picnics are always cute. I want to gather a nice picnic, take a good walk into the woods somewhere and just relax. It just sounds so nice, doesn’t it? Just you and the great outdoors, and snacks of course.

Get a tan – I try to be out in the sun as often as I can so luckily this one is pretty easy for me. Sometimes holding on to that tan can get hard, thus why I am laying out in it right now! I want to be tan as long as I can.

Thats all folks!

Well, there’s my official summer bucket list! I realize after writing it all down that I have a lot to go. Guess I should get to work huh.. What’s on your bucket list for summer? What is on your list that isn’t on mine? I would love to know what other people want to do during summer.

I made a little printable list in case anyone else wants a copy!

Thanks for reading! I hope you all have a great week!!
