It’s almost Fall Y’all! Get in the spirit

by jessicalynnschinkovec

I know, I know. Fall doesn’t actually begin until September 22. I get it, I know, but it almost fall y’all so get ready. Every year all over social media, groups of people battle over those that are excited about fall and those that hate the people that are excited about fall. Haha. I can’t say much because I am both. Both groups define how I feel about the season change. Summer is my personal favorite time of year absolutely without a doubt, but I love the flavors and scents of fall. I love spices and the spicy smells, but I hate the idea of summer leaving me.

So here we are. In the day it is every bit of summer. The high 80s in temperature, and the warm sun shining down on your skin. It’s still beautiful enough to catch a late summer tan. Yet, in the night, you can smell the cool fall air. Fall is coming. And since I will be enjoying both the end of summer and the beginning of fall all at the same time I thought what better way to do that than to talk about some of the best ways to get yourself ready for fall.

Light up some fun fall candles, or throw some pumpkin spice melts in your wax melter. One of the best ways to really feel the fall spirit is to smell it. That’s how my mind works at least. When those spicy apple and pumpkin scents fill the room, it really makes you feel all warm and cozy. The first thing I do when I start to feel fall in the air is gather up all my fall scents. I get out any leftover candles from last year and order some new fresh fall candles and wax melts. Typically I order my candles from Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candle. I also gather a bunch from Hobby Lobby as well. Candles can be super expensive, so keep an eye out for those really good deals. (I just bought these Yankee candles at almost half price.)

Start watching your favorite Halloween movies. I think everyone has a list of their favorite movies that they watch every fall and Halloween season. Obviously, scary movies are a must, I don’t know how you could get through the season without watching at least one scary movie. Decorating for each season always feels way more festive with a good seasonal movie on in the background. Some of my personal favorite movies or shows on my list that I start watching every season are listed below.

  • Vampire Diaries (I know not Halloween but it is about vampires so that counts right)
  • The Haunting of Hill House ( I loved this show)
  • Locke & Key (Another show I really enjoyed that has another season coming out this October!)
  • Hocus Pocus (Obviously! It is a classic)
  • Halloweentown (Another classic)

Create your own epic fall bucket list. Why not write down all of the goals you have for the season. Whether it is hitting up all the haunted houses or losing a few pounds who cares. Write it down, and check it off as you complete all the awesome things you wanted to do this fall. Bucket lists are a great way to see how much stuff you would actually like to do and keep track of doing it! Then at the end of the season, it’s really neat to see how much you actually accomplished.

Decorate for fall. Even if it is just a nice wreath on the door and a centerpiece on the table. Adding some pops of fall colors always puts you in the mood for fall. I personally love to go all out for the fall and winter seasons. When you are going to be spending more time inside due to colder, rainy weather it’s always nice to have a nice cozy home for the season. Plus it is always fun to play around and make your home aesthetic, and cute.

Go get yourself a fun fall beverage. Pumpkin Spiced Latte from Starbucks? Or ya know any other fall-flavored beverage that has recently come out for the season. My personal favorite is a good apple cider margarita! It’s really exciting when you walk into a bar, restaurant, or coffee shop and find that they have some seasonal items on their menu. I am usually one to try as many of them as I think I will like.

Well, thats all I have! Some fun fall preperation ideas to get you in the spirit!

Or… lastly, you can always do what I do to get ready for fall…… SHOP… I shop for all the fall things, décor, coffee for home, coffee creamer, cups, outfits, literally anything I can find to theme to the season I shop for. It’s a particularly great habit though I will prewarn you it can get out of hand and a little expensive. I even have pumpkin face masks and bath salts… smh, but you defiantly feel like you are at a fall festival when your around and that’s how I like it!!

Thanks for hanging with me!! I hope you guys are ready to jump into the fall season because it’s coming whether you like it or not!!!

Also, Stay tuned for all kinds of fall posts I have been working on for you all. The fall bucket list will be up soon as well as some awesome fall activities that will be going on in the South Western Pennsylvania area.
