An Easy to Make Fall Epsom Salt Bath Soak

by jessicalynnschinkovec

How to make your own at home soak, that smells amazing for fall.

Hey everyone! Happy Fall! Fall is officially in full swing, at least it is here in Pennsylvania, the nights are cold and the days are cool, the leaves are changing, and it is already October. That colder weather always means more hot baths for me. I have always been a bath person. Tired? Take a bath. Sick? Soak in the tub. Cold? Enjoy a bath. Honestly, I could find any excuse to take a bath as often as I can.

Along with loving baths, comes loving all the fun accessories you can add to your bath to make it even better, or pampering some would say. For years I have been busing Epsom salts to add to my bath, and I have loved them. A few weeks ago I thought it would be fun to have a nice fall Epsom salt soak and decided to DIY some for myself. I started researching and looking into the different things you can add to your bath and finally came up with a concoction I really enjoyed, and it smells amazing! So if you are anything like me and want a nice fall bath soak, then stay with me.

This is an image of my mason jar with some of the epsom salts inside. Showing what I used to contain the bath soak.

The Recipe I Am Loving Right Now:

  • 1 cup of Epsom Salts
  • 1/2 cup of Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
  • 2 tablespoons of Ground Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda
  • 2 tablespoons of Coconut Oil
  • 5 Drops of Pumpkin Pie Essential Oi
  • Mix all the ingredients and then add to a container or mason jar.

The Base of the Mixture.

The salts I decided to use as my base are epsom salts and pink himalayan sea salts. Most soaks start with epsom salts, but adding the sea salt is extra fun.

Epsom Salts – Epsom Salts are the main ingredient, and you could easily just use the Epsom salts in your soak. In water Epsom salts break down into magnesium and sulfate, and it is said that taking a bath in the salts allows your body to take in the nutrients through your skin. This is also great to help ease the pain of sore muscles and stiff joints. Epsom salt baths are also known to relieve stress and soothe the skin.

Pink Himalayan Sea Salt – Himalayan salt is great for detoxification, and releasing toxins from your body. You can also use this salt as a salt scrub, for your face and body.

And then we have the optional items for added benefits.

There are many different things you can add to your mixture. I personally chose these two because of all the added benefits they have, but you don’t need to add anything if you don’t want to. You can also add activated charcoal, sea kelp, milk powder or honey powder. Im sure there are so many other things you could add as well.

Powders…

A cute fall image of coconut oil and some ground ginger.

Ground Ginger – Ground Ginger was one of those things I found in my research. After reading about all the different things you can add to a bath, I found that ginger is said to calm digestion, sweating out toxins, aid in digestion, increasing blood circulation, and even may help improve metabolism. I have only used it in my bath a few times, but after all of the amazing things I have read about ginger baths, I will probably add it to as many baths as I can.

Baking Soda – Baking soda in a bath is said to help remove germs and aid in healing. It can also help with skin irritations, and promote the healing of poison ivy, oak, or sumac. I really enjoy adding baking soda, because living on a farm we are always in the woods, and in my mind, if it can help heal poison it can also help prevent it. That’s probably not accurate at all, but oh well, we can all use a little something extra to remove germs haha.

And Oils…

Coconut Oil – Coconut oil has so many benefits. Some people use coconut oil at least once daily for multiple different things, I know I do. The main reason I add coconut oil to my bath is to keep skin soft and moisturized. I have always been told that coconut oil is great for your skin, but I hate the oily feeling you get. Sometimes I put it on my face and in my hair at night, but I don’t think I could handle the feeling any more than that. So when I learned that you can add it to your bath, and skip out on that slimy, oil slick feeling I was totally in. I wouldn’t recommend washing your hair in the same water you soak in, though I have done it myself, you will get some of those oils in your hair.

And Finally, the best part for last.

the essential oils used and purchased from amazon
I ordered these amazing smelling essential oils from Amazon. Get yourself some here.

The best part is obviously the essential oils. You can add any essential oils of your choice, I chose the best ones for a good fall scent.

Pumpkin Pie Essential Oil – First of all the pumpkin pie essential oil I bought is a blend of cinnamon, clove, pumpkin extracts, and nutmeg essential oils. It smells absolutely delicious. The best part about essentials oils is all the great benefits that come from essential oils. This particular blend is said to boost the mood, boost energy levels, and relieve stress. The scent is amazing, and perfect for a good fall bath soak.

Doesn’t it sound so yummy, well for a bath that is.

After soaking in all of these amazing things I always feel super soft skin, and relaxed. If you are anything like me and love to soak then you will love this simple fall bath soak. I can not wait to do a full fall pampering evening with all my great fall scents! Thanks for reading, if you try out the soak let me know!!
